Advert description
I have a Masters degree in Psychology and am a qualified Primary School Teacher (PGDE). I have been teaching since 2012. During my teaching career I have worked with all ages of children from 5-11yrs & within various ASN departments in the public sector. I spent 5 years at a local authority School for Autism; the largest special needs school in my local area. Throughout this time, I worked with children with autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Downs Syndrome, cerebral palsy & challenging behaviour. I also am trained in BSL for beginners.
More recently I have spent some time teaching overseas during a sabbatical period. During this time abroad, I was working in a privately funded Waldorf School.
I have a passion for teaching Literacy; specifically reading, writing and spelling to children who need that extra bit of support to achieve their goals. Being led by what works best for the child is my philosophy, which then allows for real progress to take place. I believe in building a strong connection with my students which will also lead to better and more successful learning. In creating a safe space to learn, I believe confidence will grow. I will guide them empathically through any obstacle they may be facing in their learning.
