How do I teach maths online?
I carefully plan lessons based on your needs. Each one uses technology for drawing graphs, solving equations, manipulating geometric shapes and analysing data, so you can understand the topics and confidently answer exam questions.
What are lessons like?
Each lesson begins with a starter activity, followed by investigations and demonstrations on the whiteboard, and problem solving. We'll then do exam questions, starting with the easier ones and then increasing in difficulty. See the videos for examples of my teaching.
How does online maths tuition work?
I upload teaching materials to BitPaper. Each lesson is called a paper, and will have many pages. You'll be given a link to the paper and, when the lesson starts, you join the call. BitPaper has audio, video and chat facilities. After the lesson, I'll save the paper as a PDF and email it you, which you can use for revision.
On the paper we can write freehand, enter text, input equations, and draw lines and shapes, using colour to highlight important concepts. By sharing screens, we can use mathematical software for creating graphs, geometric shapes and statistics.
This technology allows you to learn and do maths as you would in a classroom.
What is my teaching style?
After assessing your strengths and weaknesses, I design a personalised series of lessons. I explore a topic using interactive resources, explain concepts clearly, and always ask plenty of questions to check for understanding. I'm calm, patient, a good communicator, and I care about your progress.
