I spent seven months in France as part of my Year Abroad, as an English Language Assistant, from October 2022 to April 2023. This means that I have previously worked with students aged between fifteen and eighteen, and I believe firmly in the importance of learning languages.
I will start off by getting to know you, and gauge your proficiency in French. From there, we will discuss why you're interesting in private tutoring for French and what you want to achieve in sessions with me. I will ask you what resources you already use to study, what you find helpful in lessons and what you don't. I will use a mixture of online resources and set occasional tasks for you to complete in between sessions.
I hope to encourage you to pursue languages into adulthood, as I believe that they are an incredibly important part of life and will aid you not only in travelling around the globe, but also in setting you apart from other candidates in job interviews, the understanding of your own language, and how essential it is to be able to communicate clearly with people on an international level. I believe that language is a core part of who a person is, and that a willingness to engage with other people in different languages can only be a positive thing. As it has with me, the learning of languages has taught me a lot about myself, improved my self-esteem and connected me with a lot of wonderful people.
