In my tutoring sessions I mainly teach in a visual and verbal format. This relates to the fact that I, myself am a visual and auditory learner so I know how to express different contents and materials best in this way to allow visual and auditory learner's a better chance at understanding and remembering the content. I do this by displaying helpful pictures and diagrams on my slides alongside summarised bullet points of key information to note and talking the student through each bullet point, with extra facts underneath which may still be helpful to know for a deeper understanding.
Before each session I try to find relating past paper questions, or in some cases make my own questions to quiz students understanding, allowing them to be actively engaged and also provides me feedback on areas to focus on more with them. These questions are all later sent to the student as an extra revision resource to look back on. Usually weekly recap sessions are enough and helpful, however if anyone requires more frequent sessions for more than once a week, then that is also not an issue I am able to deliver that.
My techniques have proven to work for improving grades in students that learn best in this format, as I have seen a difference in my younger brothers grades after helping him.
I am currently a healthcare science student at university think I have sufficient knowledge to be able to tutor well enough.
I can teach best for with biology and chemistry, however I still provide support for physics if needed.
