Hello! I am a passionate Physics and Mathematics tutor with an MSc in Theoretical Physics from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc in Physics. I have previous experience teaching Physics and Mathematics to secondary-school students in classes 10–12 at Jay Classes, where I developed a strong interest in helping students understand challenging concepts and achieve their academic goals.
**What are my lessons like?**
My lessons are interactive, structured and personalised to each student's individual learning needs. I believe that Physics and Mathematics should be understood rather than simply memorised. My goal is to make difficult topics accessible, interesting and enjoyable.
I usually begin by assessing a student's existing knowledge, identifying areas where they need support and understanding their academic objectives. I then develop lessons that build confidence progressively, starting with fundamental concepts before moving towards more challenging problems.
During lessons, I use clear explanations, diagrams, real-world examples and step-by-step calculations to demonstrate how scientific and mathematical principles work. Students are encouraged to ask questions freely, participate actively and develop their own problem-solving approaches.
**Subjects and examination preparation**
I offer support in Physics and Mathematics for GCSE, National 5, Scottish Higher and A-level students.
My Physics lessons can cover mechanics, electricity, magnetism, waves, thermodynamics, energy and other curriculum topics. Mathematics lessons can include algebra, trigonometry, calculus, graphs and mathematical problem-solving.
For students preparing for examinations, I incorporate past papers, exam-style questions, targeted revision and practical examination techniques. I also help students identify common mistakes and improve the clarity and accuracy of their answers.
**My teaching philosophy**
I understand that every student learns differently. Some need additional explanations and confidence-building, while others benefit from advanced challenges and examination practice.
I maintain a patient, encouraging environment where making mistakes is viewed as part of the learning process. I provide constructive feedback and adapt the pace of lessons to ensure students develop genuine understanding.
My ultimate aim is to help students become confident, independent learners who can apply their knowledge effectively in examinations and beyond.
Whether you need help overcoming difficult topics, improving your grades or exploring Physics and Mathematics more deeply, I would be delighted to support your learning journey.
