Sandra D.

Hi there! My name is Sandra and I live in Canada. I have a B.A. from the University of Toronto and 5+ years experience teaching English as a second language.

After graduating, I worked in both primary and secondary schools in Madrid, Spain, where I taught students from ages 6 up to 18. I have also worked at a language academy with mostly professional clients needing to improve their workplace English.

I currently teach level A1 to C2 English online to students from all over the world. I like to focus on speaking and conversation skills to ensure students develop the confidence they need to be successful English communicators, whether it be the workplace, school, while travelling, or for living abroad. I want to get students to speak as much as possible, so I really enjoy facilitating conversations throughout lessons. I'm a stickler for grammar (I also work as a paid writer!), so I make it my duty to ensure you'll understand grammar concepts and punctuation. I'm big on idioms and complex vocabulary, so you'll hear me them when applicable as a way to expose you to new phrases and words.

In my spare time, I enjoy trying new recipes, hiking, cycling, reading, and a few other activities. I also like learning languages myself, and I plan on enrolling in French course in the fall. Most of the language tips I provide to students are the same strategies I use myself when learning a new language, so I do hope you'll find them useful.
