I will use Zoom for my online lessons or Google Meet for each lesson. I would like to use a personalized zoom code/ google meet code and send it to my tutee in advance of each lesson 1 week before my lesson. I will cover A Level Biology content specifically for OCR A board. I have been predicted an A* for A level biology and have achieved an A* at GCSE so I have tried some methods myself and understand which ways of learning work for different students such as mindmaps, condensed notes or flashcards. I will use a white board format and start with the specification so my student understands what we need to know by the end of the lesson. I will ask the pupils some basic questions to underline the most basic ideas of the topic first and then I will expand on them almost like a mindmap making sure I use different coloured pens for different key words/ topics. I will make sure the dynamic is always one where the pupil feels comfortable to share with me and regularly outside of the lesson would love for them to ask my questions. My experience is at my school I have been a Biology Mentor/ Tutor for 2 years helping year 11 students to tackle harder concepts in GCSE Biology at lunchtime sessions. Additionally I will be going to study a Biology related degree at Imperial College London following this summer so I am extremely passionate.
