I am an experienced GCSE English Language and Literature and A Level English Literature tutor, with a wealth of subject knowledge (Cambridge First, MA, and PhD), and many years of experience teaching the subject (I started teaching and lecturing in universities in 2008). More importantly, though, I am deeply invested in supporting students -- academically and pastorally -- to reach their fullest potential. I will use my years of experience (and QTLS) to provide as many lessons as required, all carefully tailored, to build confidence and success, setting excellent foundations for exams at all levels.
I have worked across Higher Education, Further Education, state and private sectors, and my mission is to share my wealth of subject knowledge with students, in order to help each person develop to her/his fullest potential. In this time, I have undertaken the role of Subject Lead for AQA A Level English, writing Schemes of Work and assessment schedules, and have also been an examiner and coursework moderator.
I teach English Language at KS3 and GCSE (and have done so for 10+ years), and English Literature at GCSE, A Level, and undergraduate level. In terms of exam boards, I teach AQA GCSE and IGCSE (Cambridge and Edexcel); at A Level I teach AQA. OCR, Edexcel, Eduqas, and IAL. I am also a current OCR A Level marker (on H472/02).
My teaching style is student-centred and question-based. I enjoy the dialogue possible in a 1:1 environment that gives space to ideas that might not be possible in a traditional classroom environment: I feel that this personalised communication is at the heart of successful tuition.
