The content of my lessons are normally based on your interest, so if during our first meeting, you specifically say you like something, I will do my best to include this in my lesson. I would rather create a lesson I know a student will enjoy and feel more motivated to partake in, however there will be some days where the topic may not be something you entirely like. But, if you would prefer to use a textbook for the lessons, I can take the lessons from a textbook and incorporate them into a presentation so it’s more visual and interactive than just looking at a page.

I have recently been in my year abroad, and during the last month there I did some substitute teaching, teaching kindergarten to middle school aged students. During this time, I was very driven to helping these students understand and complete the task at hand without my direct help. During tasks, I monitored the students and spoke to them all 1-1 to see if there was any problems they were having. I believe letting the students have time to do the work themselves is much more rewarding than just copying answers, because they’re not necessarily learning or using the language that has been taught.
