Hello, my name is Safia. I have always enjoyed the sciences, specifically biology and chemistry and I am now doing my undergraduate in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Bristol. I achieved an 8 in Biology and Chemistry at GCSE and an A in both at A-level.
I find that most effective revision is active and interactive, therefore focusing on understanding the content and being able to confidently answer questions is essential.
I would work to build confidence in your exam technique whilst also making sure that you’re able to apply your knowledge. This is often something that students struggle with, especially at A-level where questions often don’t clear ask for pure recall and focus more applying to situations.
I also underwent some tutoring myself at A-level and I personally found that a younger tutor was easier to understand engage with. For this reason I feel as though I would have an advantage in helping your child especially if engaging with the subject is something they struggle with.
However I am very understanding that when it comes to revision and learning everyone is different. Therefore, I would strive to work with you to find out what it is that you need and what you would find most helpful.
On top of this having recently gone through my GCSEs and A-levels I am happy to give more general advice. Such as on what to do on exam day and leading up it; managing exam stress and responsibilities; and managing your time so that you know what to expect and how to prepare, to give yourself the very best chance to excel.
