i use a mixture of things to teach as everyone learns different for example some people learn with pictures, others by repetition ect. so i use pictures, auditory techniques, writing and repeating, drawing and more. i also set homework every week to ensure that my student is learning and getting better at the topics i am teaching and also at revising. i give all my students a lot of ways to efficiently and effectively revise. which saves time and stress. i also do exams after a few sessions to spot any areas were my student might be struggling so i can clear those up before their exams.
