I am an enthusiastic scientist aiming for a career in stem cell biology; I can teach any sciences and maths, but biology is my specialty and passion. I offer focused and relaxed lessons that feel more like a discussion rather than a lesson - I believe the key to learn something is to be able to talk about it fluently rather than simply memorise facts. For example, instead of teaching "the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cells", I aim to ensure the student knows why this statement is true, as well as encouraging questions to further support their understanding of topics.
During my time at school, I used to have low grades but through approaching learning differently to what I was taught in school, I scored exceptionally high grades in GCSEs and A-Levels. To mention some:
A Levels = Mathematics (A*), Biology (A), Chemistry (A)
GCSEs = Mathematics (9), Biology (8), Chemistry (8), Physics (8)
(if you would like a copy of my official transcript or proof of my grades, please do not hesitate to message me via any of my contact details)
Currently being a King's College London university student, I can relate to the struggles of learning difficult topics, especially when you feel like your school/institution is not providing the necessary support.
By relating to these difficulties, I know exactly what methods and formats are required to grasp those concepts. Additionally, the education system is not designed for students with different mindsets and/or learning difficulties - I am a visual learner and for years during school I forced myself to just read notes and books, not knowing that's simply not how I function. When I have a first lesson with a student, I intend to dedicate that session purely so that both me and the student can mutually understand each other and how we both teach/learn.
Having tried out almost all the techniques to learn a subject, I can confidently say that I am proficient in many different approaches to learning (audio, visual, and written) - I have tried them all!
Finally, I will utilise flipped discussions at the end of each lesson - the student must teach me the topics we covered as if I am a student too. I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm for sciences and mathematics with the next generation!
