My lessons are designed to make Sociology engaging, accessible and relevant to everyday life. I believe that understanding sociological concepts goes beyond memorising theories; it involves developing the ability to think critically, question assumptions and apply sociological perspectives to real-world situations.

I take a personalised approach to tutoring, recognising that every student has different learning needs, strengths and areas for improvement. Our first lesson will focus on understanding your academic goals, identifying topics you find challenging and developing a learning plan that works for you.

My lessons are structured but interactive, combining clear explanations of key sociological theories with discussions, practical examples and activities that encourage independent thinking. I use PowerPoint presentations, academic readings and relevant case studies to help break down complex concepts into manageable ideas. I also encourage students to ask questions and actively participate rather than simply listen.

Having previously tutored 18 first-year Sociology students at Rhodes University, all of whom successfully passed their course, I understand the importance of creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas and asking for clarification.

I can assist with understanding sociological theories, analysing academic literature, developing critical thinking skills, structuring essays, improving academic writing and preparing for examinations.

Above all, my goal is to help you develop confidence in your academic abilities and a genuine interest in Sociology. Whether you need additional support or want to strengthen your existing knowledge, my lessons will be tailored to help you achieve your goals.
