My lessons are not boring. They are mainly student centered, which means the student does most of the work and most of the talking. I have a lot of experience in incorporating different stimuli into the lessons. For example, using film, music, games. It has been a while since I’ve taught from a book. I have been teaching English in a number of guises over the last 40 years. I have taught from kindergarten to PhD students. Most recently I have been teaching university students at foundation level and also EAP, that is English for Engineering and Business students. I have also led teams in creating and developing courses to be taught in class and online. I was an IELTS examiner for over ten years and have been preparing students for IELTS for just as long. A few years ago I delivered a TEDx talk which can still be found on YouTube. Learning English should be fun and also a conduit for learning more than just language.
To sum up, I’m a fully qualified English as a Foreign Language/Academic English teacher (MA in TESOL, PGCE, QTS) with experience in Europe and the Middle East. I was a system-wide team leader for English language course creation and assessment with experience of test writing for Cambridge University Press.
