I have a real desire to support students of any age to take control of anxiety over exams and become their most confident selves. This has developed over 43 years in teaching as an A level psychology teacher, science teacher, head of sixth form and mindfulness coach. I form positive relationships with students and receive great feedback from year 11 students I coach at a school near me now as well as students over my teaching history. To do this I focus on students taking control of their negative thoughts and unhelpful habits through mindfulness and neuroplasticity, through to effective, organised study and efficient encoding and recall. So it’s not just about what to do but why and how to maximise learning and technique . Additionally, I integrate the 4 C’s of mental toughness (control, commitment , challenge and confidence) into my sessions so that what you learn stays with you for many years to come.
Professionally, I have a BEd in Chemistry, Biology and Educational Psychology, together with an associated Teachers Certificate and a Masters degree in Science Education. I also was a Head of Sixth form in two schools over 30 years and a part time Mindfulness coach for 8 years working with homeless people at the charity ‘Crisis’.
