I like to put a lot of thought into my lessons before teaching them. I don't want students to feel like they're just being given a worksheet or having information read back to them. I like to put a lot of thought into my lessons before teaching them. I don't want students to feel like they're just being given a worksheet or having information read back to them. I want them to understand what they're learning, feel comfortable asking questions and actually enjoy seeing themselves improve.

Before starting, I'll usually find out what the student is currently studying, which exam board they follow, what they struggle with and what they're hoping to achieve. From there, I'll plan lessons around their needs, creating my own resources, presentations and practice questions. I cover different exam boards, so I'm happy to adapt lessons to the specific content and requirements of each student's course.

I like to keep lessons interactive. Rather than spending the entire session talking, I'll work through topics with students, ask questions to check their understanding and give them opportunities to put what they've learned into practice. Depending on what we're working on, this might involve going through difficult concepts, practising exam questions, improving essay structures or working on revision techniques.

For subjects like English Literature, History and Sociology, I particularly enjoy helping students develop their arguments and learn how to write stronger answers. Knowing the content is important, but knowing how to use it in an exam is just as important. I spend time looking at what exam questions are actually asking, how to structure answers and how to use evidence and analysis effectively.

I've been teaching since 2023, both through private tuition and as a volunteer teacher at Amaanah Academy, where I plan and deliver lessons across four classes of approximately 17 students. I've worked with students aged 6–23, with different abilities and learning needs, which has taught me that you sometimes need to approach the same topic in several different ways before it clicks.

I also understand that not every student feels confident in the classroom or enjoys asking for help. I want my lessons to be somewhere students can say when they don't understand something without feeling embarrassed. There is no expectation that you'll get everything right first time!

Whether you need help understanding a particular topic, want to improve your exam technique or are aiming for a specific grade, I'll work with you to make sure our lessons are useful, focused and suited to you. Most importantly, I want you to feel that you're making progress and that the work you're putting in is paying off.
