What my Early Years lessons are like

My Early Years lessons are practical, supportive, and well-structured. I teach in a way that helps you understand the topic clearly and apply it confidently in your setting. Whether you’re new to Early Years, returning to learning, or already working in a nursery, my aim is to help you build strong knowledge, professional confidence, and the right evidence to meet your Level 3 requirements.

The format I use (so you always know what to expect)

Most sessions follow a clear routine:

1) Quick check-in (5–10 mins)
We start with where you are now: what you’ve done, what’s confusing, and what you need help with.

2) Topic teaching (20–30 mins)
I explain the topic in a simple, clear way and link it to real Early Years practice (not just theory). I highlight what assessors look for and what “good” evidence includes.

3) Practical activity (20–30 mins)
This is where we apply learning using:

real-life scenarios from nursery practice

child development examples

safeguarding situations and reporting routes

observation, assessment and planning exercises

inclusive practice / SEND examples

professional behaviours and partnership with parents

4) Evidence-building support (15–25 mins)
We turn what you do in the setting into strong evidence. I guide you to:

write better reflections (not too basic, with clear impact on the child)

map your work to the criteria

identify gaps early and close them with a simple action plan

5) Feedback + next steps (5–10 mins)
You finish with clear instructions on what to complete next, what to upload, and how to improve your work.

How the sessions feel (my teaching style)

Supportive but focused: I’m kind, patient and approachable, but I’ll keep you on track.

Practical and relatable: I teach using examples you’ll recognise from everyday nursery life.

Clear standards: I explain exactly what you need to do to meet the Level 3 standard.

Confidence building: I help you communicate professionally and explain your practice clearly.

My teaching methods

Explain ? show you ? practise together ? improve

Guided questioning to help you think deeper and answer confidently

Scaffolding (templates, prompts and sentence starters when needed)

Step-by-step writing support for reflective accounts and professional discussions

Progress tracking so you always know what you’ve achieved and what’s left

My experience (what I bring as your tutor/assessor)

I have experience supporting learners across Early Years Level 2/3, including Early Years Educator pathways, and I’m confident delivering sessions remotely and face-to-face. I support learners through the full journey: induction, planning, reviews, observations/professional discussions (where required), and building a strong portfolio that is clear, authentic and meets the standard.
