I like to start by getting to know the student — their background, what they enjoy, what they find challenging and how they prefer to learn. This helps me adapt my approach and make lessons more engaging and effective.

I like to make lessons interactive and tailored to each student’s needs and level. I usually ask students to send topics or materials in advance so I can prepare clear explanations and targeted exercises. Each session focuses on building understanding step by step using simple explanations and practical examples. I also include short resources such as diagrams, videos or quick quizzes to keep lessons engaging and reinforce key concepts.

My approach is influenced by my studies at Maastricht University, where I learned through Problem-Based Learning (PBL). This method emphasises active participation, discussion and applying knowledge rather than memorising it which I think is a much more interesting way to learn (and teach). I aim to make lessons interactive and encourage students to think through problems and build confidence in their answers.

I also have experience working with students as a residential tutor at Sherborne International which has helped me adapt to different age groups and learning styles. Being fluent in English and French as well as comfortable in Spanish and German (and having travelled a lot), I’m comfortable adapting my explanations to suit each student.

Overall, my goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, understanding the material clearly and improve steadily over time!
