I create a supportive, engaging, and student-centred learning environment where lessons are tailored to each learner’s individual needs, goals, and learning style. My teaching methodology focuses on building confidence alongside subject knowledge, using clear explanations, interactive discussion, practical examples, and regular formative assessment to ensure steady progress. I believe in encouraging independent thinking, resilience, and curiosity while maintaining high expectations and a positive learning atmosphere.

A key part of my approach is the “teach, do, review” methodology. Concepts are first clearly taught and modelled, before students apply their understanding through guided and independent practice. Lessons then conclude with purposeful review and feedback to consolidate learning, address misconceptions, and identify next steps. This structured approach helps students develop both confidence and long-term understanding.
I also ensure learning is relevant and engaging by incorporating current business examples and real-world case studies into lessons, helping students connect theory to practice. Alongside this, lessons are strongly informed by past examination questions, mark schemes, and examiners’ reports to develop exam technique, improve written responses, and give students a clear understanding of what examiners are looking for. This ensures students are not only learning content effectively but are also fully prepared for assessment success.

Lessons are typically 45–60 minutes long, allowing enough time to review prior learning, introduce new concepts, practise skills, and reflect on progress. Sessions are carefully structured to maximise engagement and maintain a pace that suits the learner. I have over 20 years of experience teaching Business Studies across every key stage level, giving me a strong understanding of curriculum progression, assessment requirements, and effective teaching strategies for a wide range of learners. In addition to classroom teaching, I have also been actively involved in teacher training and mentoring, supporting trainee and early-career teachers in developing their classroom practice, subject knowledge, and confidence as educators.

My lessons are suitable for GCSE, A-Level, and BTEC Business students from Years 9–13. I tailor each session to the individual learner’s needs, whether they require support with subject knowledge, exam technique, coursework, revision strategies, or confidence-building. Lessons are designed to challenge and motivate students while providing the guidance and structure needed to help them achieve their academic goals.
