Patrice Wallen

I hold a BA in Linguistics and an MA in Language Communication Research and have 10 years’ experience in university teaching and assessment in Linguistics and Academic Writing. This experience, along with two years of teaching secondary students O’ Level English as well as being trained on mixed first language adult classes in my CELTA qualification have afforded me the opportunity to work with students at various ages, stages and backgrounds and hone the pedagogical skills that have been central to my career.

My approach is student-centred, developing concrete lesson plans, selecting appropriate pedagogical strategies, applying a wide variety of formative and summative assessment protocols and managing administration. My background in financial customer service informs my teaching philosophy that I am primarily teaching a person and addressing their needs, not simply delivering content. I coach in EFL and ESP and I value lifelong learning.
