My lessons are structured but flexible, always tailored to what the student actually needs in that session. I start by identifying exactly where a student is struggling — whether that's a specific concept, exam technique, or confidence — and build the lesson around that rather than following a rigid plan. For Economics, I focus on helping students construct strong analytical chains and evaluation points, which is where most marks are lost at GCSE and A-Level. I'm familiar with the OCR, AQA and Edexcel specifications and can help with both microeconomics and macroeconomics content, as well as 25-mark essay technique. For English Literature and Language, I focus on close reading, developing a personal critical voice, and structuring essays that actually answer the question. I know how easy it is to write a lot and still not hit the top mark bands — I help students understand exactly what examiners are looking for. For Maths and Statistics, I break concepts down step by step, work through problems together, and then gradually hand over to the student so they can build independent confidence. I'm comfortable working with students who find Maths genuinely difficult as well as those pushing for top grades. I typically structure sessions around three things: reviewing recent work or tests, teaching or consolidating a concept, and then practising under realistic conditions. I always leave time for questions. Having just completed my own A-Levels, I know exactly what these exams demand and can give students current, relevant, imperative and useful guidance.
