I have a couple of different styles of lessons depending on the needs of the student. If the student is struggling with a certain topic, I usually reteach the entire topic to make sure any misunderstandings are ironed out.

Alternatively, if the student has demonstrated that they have a good understanding of the subject overall, then I focus on getting the student ready for exams by developing their exam technique as well as overall understanding of the subject. I would usually do this by giving the student hand-picked exam questions that address their weaker areas.

The primary platforms I use are OneNote and Teams. I use OneNote to show the student visual cues and diagrams to help them stay engaged and allow them to see a visual representation of what they are learning about. I also make sure students take notes, which I will be looking over to make sure they haven’t missed out any important points. I usually set homework due for the next lesson and open the lesson either by going through their feedback or with starter questions to help the student to get into the correct mindset for the lesson.

My lesson’s are personally tailored around the needs of the student to be as useful to them as possible. As a student with dyslexia I understand the challenges with learning difficulties and have experience in helping students to find coping mechanisms to aid their studies. I typically teach year 7 to year 11 for english but for chemistry and biology I teach students from year 7 to 11.
