I am a patient, understanding, and amiable person with the ability to adapt well, quickly and always eager to learn
new skills. I always love working with students, teaching and happy seeing them progress in their learning. I have a
convincing and motivational skill to engage young people in learning, these have often stand as credits with
supporting them, in reaching their full potentials.
I have a good knowledge of ICT backed with a good numeracy, literacy and teaching in mathematics background in
Nigeria at secondary school level for many years. I have got good subject knowledge of mathematics related subjects
covered in the curriculum. Similarly, as part of my commitment to developing my practice and improving students'
attainment, I have developed proficiency in the use of online resources and packages that could be used to aid the
learning of mathematics.
In my recent research in global educational sector, I have uncovered that young people are becoming more and more
disengaged from education, particularly the learning of mathematics and science. It is this development and changing
trend that made me to be fully committed to contributing my own quota; to the training, sharing of ideas and my
knowledge of mathematics.
I love seeing students enjoy school and wanting to learn, this has built my interest and passion for working with them.
I always appreciate their beliefs, cultural backgrounds, ethos and traditional values, which make me, find it easy to
work with everyone. I believe my experience of working with people from different backgrounds; will be priceless in
encouraging students with cultural diversity to learn.
As an experienced maths teacher, I am equipped with a wealth of experience-while being employed by the Lagos
State Ministry of Education, Education District V, teaching students from ages 11 – 16 Mathematics and Additional
Mathematics for over a decade ( Sept – March 1, 2023)- which has prepared me for taking on teaching and
learning responsibilities. I enjoy playing academic games with student and these experiences give me added value to
better support young peoples' learning and as well encouraging them to develop their skills.
I enjoy learning new things and sharing ideas with friends and colleagues at work. I often take time to look for ways
to present challenging tasks in a rather simple but engaging way. I have great passion for all aspects of education,
which involves working with young people but take more interest in mathematics. This is down to my ability to learn
by seeing and vocally expressing my ideas. This gives me the advantage to easily adapt a variety of teaching styles.
These adaptive features, I hope will help me to perfectly fit to any area of education where my skills might be needed.
I do establish a good working relationship and set clear boundaries with the students that I have worked with, so that
they feel secure and enjoy working with me. I am approachable and recognise the need to match the task to the
abilities of the students. I strongly believe that my skills, knowledge and qualities will serve as leverages to improve
the teaching and learning practice in your school.
