As an Alevel Maths student, I am well aware of the work needed to build your maths skillls. I myself had moved from achieving 5s and 6s, to 8s and 9s during my GCSE period. I highly value the importance of past papers. This means the lesson format will consist of opeating together with the student to solve exam questions, especially to judge their strengths and weaknesses. The lessons will be tailor-made to fit the individual needs of each student and what they would like to learn, whether this is consolidating concepts from school, or exploring new topics. When teaching a new topic, this will be highly visual with clear step-by-step guidance written. Small practice tasks will then be sent after the lesson in order to build methods into the long-term memory. The student will be fully guided during the lesson with no pressure to always know the answer. I will also allow some time for independent work to build confidence in their own skills.
