I place a strong emphasis on how to think in English Literature, not just what to memorise. I’ll talk through my own thought process when analysing texts, show you examples of high-level responses from my own work, and explain why certain points score well with examiners. This helps you build confidence in forming your own ideas rather than relying on pre-learnt answers. Lessons are interactive and discussion-based, so you’re encouraged to speak, ask questions, and test out ideas without worrying about being “wrong”. If it’s useful, I can include short quizzes, exam-style questions, or homework to reinforce learning between sessions, but this is always adapted to your workload and preferences. Having achieved a Grade 9 at GCSE English and full marks in an A-level English Literature paper, I have a strong understanding of exam expectations.
