I am more of a materials based teacher, I would prefer students look through primary sources with me for discussion, such as case-law and treaties. I have on occasion used PowerPoint presentations, but really the degree of formality depends on the students preferences. I am able to provide more intense lessons where we cover a lot of sources, or slower paced and more in depth lessons where we discuss a few key issues. Generally I have high expectations of my students, and would prefer them to come prepared and on time. I aim to help students understand the "why" rather than just the what, as well as make sure they understand the political and legal context of decisions, cases, and treaties. This is especially relevant in areas such as International Law, Public Law, and EU Law. Having completed two degrees from two UK Universities', including a Russel Group University; I know what markers are looking for, and how to get the grades needed to get through any legal course, LLB or LLM.
