I teach online via Zoom or Google Meet either through 1 on 1 sessions or group sessions. I focus on making the student understand the concepts behind what they're learning rather than the textbook words. I understand how much patience this requires, as most of the time teachers get fed-up when students ask 'dumb questions'. Since I've been at the receiving end of this table, I understand and work on being patient with the student's learning level, as long as they are putting in efforts of their own.
I do have private tutoring experience that has always been unpaid. Currently I'm in Year 2 of Med-School. I have done my Alevels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics and in my Olevels I had the same subjects along with English, Math, Urdu, PakStudies and Islamiyat. I had A*s in the subjects and levels I wish to teach.
Being in med-school helps me deeply understand science subjects especially related to the human body, which is why I have opted to teach their relevant subjects.
Lastly, I always ask my students to let me know there and then if they're having trouble in understanding what I'm teaching. Either through text or on call. This way, the student doesn't feel left behind. I also like to take test sessions, as I understand the importance of reviewing old content in helping to retain it. I aim at making the tests personalised to the group/batch I am teaching so that it tackles what needs to be improved in them.
