Mohammad Samiul Huq

I am a law lecturer, doctoral researcher and practising lawyer with over 15 years of experience in legal teaching and professional practice. I have taught undergraduate students in subjects including Contract Law, Tort Law, Public Law, Administrative Law, Company Law, Jurisprudence and the English Legal System. I currently teach at City St George’s, University of London, while pursuing my PhD and an MA in Academic Practice.

My teaching starts with a simple principle: students need to understand the foundations before they can confidently deal with difficult legal problems. I therefore begin with the core principles of a topic and gradually move to cases, legislation, academic debates and their practical application.

My lessons are interactive rather than simply lectures. I encourage students to ask questions, discuss cases and test their understanding through problem questions and essay topics. I also use past examination questions and examiner expectations to help students understand how legal knowledge should be applied and presented in assessments.

My professional experience allows me to connect legal theory with real legal practice. Where appropriate, I use practical examples to show students why a legal principle matters and how it operates outside the classroom.

For A-Level students, I focus on building clear foundations and confidence. For LLB students, I place greater emphasis on case analysis, critical thinking, problem solving and academic writing. I adapt each lesson to the individual student’s level, difficulties and academic goals.
