Hi! I am an A-level student motivated to increase your understanding in Maths. I have achieved a GCSE grade 9 in the 2024 GCSE Summer Year and I'm predicted an A* in A-Level Mathematics. If I was to tutor you, please treat it like a normal chat like with one of your friends instead of thinking it as a one-way, high pressure conversation where only one person talks, I prefer when we start off with trust and calmness rather than rushing into a formal teaching session straight away. How I like to teach is by allowing you to first, independently answer a question related to the topic you need support with until you may have reached the point where you don't know how to continue or you have completed the question to your best ability, I may even drop a hint on an area of improvement that you may not have noticed but I wont give you the answer unless you are sure you have finished. I like to get a brief understanding of where you may struggle in your questions and why this may be, to support this I would give you the finished answer and let you catch where you may have missed any steps or caught any errors then I would answer the same question myself in a structured, methodical way by explaining each step one-by-one and identifying where marks are potentially awarded. If you still feel unsure, then don't be afraid to point out any areas you feel like you need more support with to gain a better understanding before moving on. This process allows me to directly identify your weak areas on questions and strengthen them by making you familiar with why it is needed and how it may be used further down in the question. Once you finally feel confident and can grasp a better understanding of the question, then I would give you a different but similar question related to the same topic for you to answer independently and help you out if you have any concerns or need a little support with answering it. This process would continue until you can finally answer and understand completely where you were making a mistake and can instinctively answer the questions without any support. This is the basic nature of how I like to teach but if you want any adjustments, I am comfortable with tweaking this style as long as it is appropriate with your own preferences of learning. You can take a break whenever you feel and can even talk about something else other than just Maths!
