Mmesoma Chukwubike

I’ve been teaching and tutoring for over 7 years, working with learners from primary school right through to university level, both in the classroom and online. My focus is English Language, Literature in English, Phonetics and beginner Portuguese, and I currently teach these subjects to secondary school students while also tutoring privately.
My lessons are structured but flexible. I start by understanding where you’re starting from and what you want to achieve, whether that’s stronger grammar, better reading comprehension, more confident writing, exam preparation, or simply building a foundation in a new language. From there, I plan each session around clear, manageable steps: I introduce a concept, work through various examples together, and use practice exercises to check understanding before moving on. I give regular, honest feedback so you always know what’s going well and what to work on next.
I teach online via Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, and in person, and I’m comfortable working with complete beginners as well as more advanced learners. I hold a BA in Portuguese and English from Lagos State University, where I graduated as the second-best student in my department.
What I bring beyond subject knowledge is patience and genuine encouragement. Many learners come to me feeling unsure of themselves, and I make it a priority to create a relaxed environment where questions are welcome and mistakes are part of learning. My goal is simple: to help you build real, lasting confidence in the subject, not just memorise facts for a test.
