I have been tutoring English as a foreign language for over 3 years and mostly teach younger students, in need of passing their exams. I am very outgoing and friendly student at university in London and understand the stresses of learning and mastering new languages having studied many and being proficient in English, Spanish and Italian. Dependant on the level and native language, I usually start by getting familiar with pronunciations, basic words and more. Having parents that do not speak English as their first language, I know the exact mistakes people make with pronunciation and address them early on to ensure learning new words is easy is more manageable. The content of my classes normally follows the CEFR standards. At a basic level, we cover the foundations of the language in a more relaxed way. We look at stringing together sentences, whilst also looking at a few tenses and gramatical things. On a higher level, we focus on slightly more complex phrases and more fluidity. My lessons normally involve a high portion of the class done in English to improve both speaking and listening skills. Every class, for all levels, will be different, and will focus on a different skill including reading, writing, listening and speaking. At an even high level (B2, C1...), I incorporate more complex parts of the language into the lesson, covering all tenses and covering English literature. Overall, lessons are normally structured, however, this structure is loose and much of the class depends on a student's wants, needs or questions they may have.
