I'm a passionate and enthusiastic teacher and have 20 years experience of teaching maths and English. I use the child-centred approach so that I can not only get to know the pupil but I can easily modify my sessions to suit the pupil's interests. I use formal and informal assessments and structure my sessions with a starter main and plenary.
Having gained my art therapy degree as well as my PGCE with masters credits, I believe this has enabled me to become a more diligent and pro-active teacher. I fully believe that if a child is enjoying their sessions, they will be more likely to succeed.
My volunteer work in Africa enabled me to develop clear objectives and enabled me to use a wide range of resources. Teaching here started my love of teaching and I not only learned about the culture but also about pedagogy, teaching styles and curriculum.
Over the past 20 years I have become more confident in understanding common misconceptions and this enables me to hone in on particular areas of work which children find more difficult. This enables my sessions to be succinct, skillful and creative. I fully embrace the different learning styles that children have.
Ensuring pupils are listened to, my sessions are clear and go at the pace of the pupil. I am dedicated to help your child succeed in the avenue of their choice and I can easily adapt my sessions to suit the needs of the pupil - no matter what their ability.
