I use lessons that are suitable for each student, topical and interesting, and comprising all the skills required to improve English proficiency. My extensive experience helps me to identify and focus on the particular areas that students need to improve, and I am also guided by their individual needs. With my IELTS students, I use a range of PowerPoint presentations I have created myself that cover all the aspects of the IELTS test and then follow up with opportunities for students to practise the skills and strategies they have learnt.

Having worked abroad for several years, I also feel completely comfortable and confident teaching in multicultural learning environments and since I am also currently learning another language, I can empathise with my students about the difficulties and frustrations they might feel in their journey towards reaching their specific goals in English proficiency.

I started my career in education over 40 years ago as a secondary school teacher, and had 15 years in the classroom teaching English as a first language, so I am also very confident and comfortable teaching teenagers as well as young adults. I transitioned to teaching English as a foreign, or additional, language 18 years ago and enjoy and appreciate the rewarding emotions I feel when I can help my students to reach their goals and feel confident and comfortable communicating in English.

My professional qualifications include a BA (English), a PGCE, an MA TESOL and a CELTA, which all underpin my extensive international experience and knowledge..
