Megan O'hanlon Murray

I am a private tutor with over four years’ experience. I have an additional year of classroom experience as a teacher of English and spent two years before that as a Learning Coordinator, creating and delivering bespoke courses. I hold PTTLs and CELTA teaching qualifications.

I specialise in teaching English, Mathematics, Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning for entrance exam success. I support KS2 students with general tuition, to improve their confidence and target any learning gaps. I teach English Language and English Literature throughout KS3 and up to A Level. Finally I have many years' experience teaching English as a Foreign Language and especially IELTS preparation.

I have supported students to prepare for entrance exams for a range of grammar and independent schools. These include Latymer, Henrietta Barnet, and King Edward’s School.

I am passionate about private tutoring as a way to directly support students to achieve their goals, and to see and measure the positive impact our work together is having. I strive to create individualised lessons which will be engaging, enjoyable and effective for my students. I ensure that my students’ families are regularly updated with clear, honest feedback, if appropriate. This way we can complement each other’s work to achieve maximum progress.

I begin tuition with an assessment of a student's current level; I then continue to assess at regular intervals to ensure that there is genuine progression. I always aim to build students’ capacity and motivation for independent learning. I do this through working with and challenging my students at their current level, creating clear, enjoyable lessons, and inspiring students to enjoy and explore these key subjects for their own sake. My lessons help to promote my students' own relationship with and enjoyment of the subjects that I teach.
