Humanities tutor for 9 years; Doctorate in Renaissance History

My approach to teaching has two main pillars: knowledge, and technique. My first aim is to assess the student's knowledge base, understanding of their subject content, and their strong points and shortcomings. I then work systematically and patiently to improve their understanding of the necessary material. This done, I move to technique, tailoring my teaching to the requirements of the specific exam board as well as the student's personal needs. This approach, delivered with sensitivity as well as academic rigour, has a proven track record of securing the best grades, including with dramatic improvements in pupil attainment.
