My lessons are dynamic, engaging, and carefully structured to support all learners. I use a consistent format that includes chunking, scaffolding, and modelling to ensure students can access and retain complex material. Lessons are broken into manageable chunks, allowing students to process information step-by-step without becoming overwhelmed. I always start with a clear learning objective and use retrieval tasks to activate prior knowledge.
I place a strong emphasis on modelling—whether it’s how to approach a source, write an analytical paragraph, or tackle an exam question. I make my thinking visible to students and guide them through the process before encouraging independent application.
Scaffolding is built into all my tasks. I gradually reduce support as confidence grows, allowing students to stretch themselves while still feeling secure. This could involve sentence starters, tiered questions, or group work before moving to individual tasks.
Within my lessons there are always discussion-based tasks as well as written. I encourage students to think critically, ask questions, and challenge ideas. Debate, pair work, and whole-class dialogue are regular features, creating a vibrant classroom environment where every voice is heard.
I have experience teaching 11-18. Including planning for all the ages and abilities groups and supporting students with a range of needs. I create inclusive lessons that balance academic rigour with creativity, helping students to succeed.
