I am a third year vet student at the University of Edinburgh. I archived all As throughout high school in the subjects of advanced higher Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology.
My lesson planes are individually tailored to best suit the learning style and educational needs of each students. My teaching style is interactive, with a focus on understanding concepts and translating that into exam performance. This involves formatting each lesson around internalisation and understanding of problem areas for the student starting from the most important core concepts and applying what we know to what we are learning as we go.
When a student is struggling with a concept or subject I find it beneficial to apply a different perspective. I understand each person thinks differently and it can be frustrating when metaphors and allegories that help others understand do not make sense to you. I am dyslexic and struggled in my early schooling, My teaching method is designed to help struggling students without making them feel unintelligent or belittled, I do so by using a combination of conversational and active learning. While my teaching methods often incorporates techniques that I found helpful in understanding concepts I struggled with that allowed me to get all As throughout high school, my lesson plans are flexible and can adapt to how each student learns.
I have tutored other students throughout high school and University all of whom went from failing to As and Bs. I have been a lab technician in a neuroscience lab and have five published papers on neurodegenerative diseases.
