I am currently studying towards a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Birmingham, and I have just completed my second year of university. I have a strong academic background in mathematics, physics, and computer science, and I am passionate about helping students build confidence and achieve strong results in these subjects.
I have over three and a half years of experience working as an instructor at Mathnasium, where I have supported students aged 5 to 16 in a wide range of mathematical topics, including primary maths, 11+ preparation, non-verbal reasoning, and GCSE mathematics. In addition, I have been tutoring online and in person for over two years, delivering tailored one-to-one lessons in mathematics, computer science, and physics.
My approach to tutoring is friendly, cooperative, and adaptable, with a strong focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable and are encouraged to ask questions. I believe this helps students engage more openly with the subject and develop a deeper understanding of each topic. I use a range of teaching methods tailored to the individual, including Socratic questioning to promote deeper thinking and understanding, as well as gamification to keep lessons engaging while building confidence and motivation. Through clear explanations, guided practice, and interactive learning, I aim to make each session both effective and worthwhile for every student.
Academically, I studied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, and the EPQ at A-Level, and I have also achieved strong results in national maths competitions, including a Gold Certificate in the Senior Maths Challenge and a Merit in the secondary round. These experiences have strengthened both my subject knowledge and my enthusiasm for teaching.
