Matija Cop

My lessons are structured, supportive and highly personalised, designed to help students develop a strong creative voice and produce distinctive, well-researched work. With a background in Fashion Design from the Royal College of Art, and professional experience at Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood, I bring both industry knowledge and contemporary creative strategies to every session. I also lecture in London and mentor students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, which allows me to guide learners with clarity and confidence through both practical skills and conceptual thinking.

Each lesson is tailored to the student’s level and goals. We begin by identifying strengths, interests and areas for development, followed by creating a clear plan of action. I work with students on research methods, idea development, sketchbook structure, 2D and 3D experimentation, silhouette exploration, portfolio layout and visual storytelling. For those preparing for university applications, I provide in-depth support with crafting a strong portfolio, writing personal statements and preparing for interviews.
My teaching approach blends critical thinking with hands-on experimentation. I encourage students to work in ways that are bold, thoughtful and authentic. Lessons include visual references, examples of professional workflow, and structured feedback to help students refine their ideas and push their creativity further.
