I have degrees in English Language & Literature (from Oxford University) and Theology (from Nottingham University), as well as the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching and Mentoring, plus the IATE Coaching Professional Level 5 apprenticeship.
Coaching lessons will focus on key areas such as dealing with stress, effective time management, goal setting, meeting expectations and setting boundaries. Lessons will be online via Teams using a mixture of 1-2-1 interaction, interactive presentations and practical workshops.
English literature lessons are also available, focusing both on understanding texts and also on breaking down how to approach coursework. I have a particular interest in Shakespeare in both text and performance and understanding how Shakespearian themes have been shown to be relevant for endless generations.
At the heart of each lesson is the aim of enabling the student to deepen their own self-awareness, thus showing them the path to achieve success. So listening is as important as teaching and every individual has their own unique way of learning, which is geared to their personality, imagination and mental attitude. so, for example, every time management plan is structured exclusively around the individual's own study habits - there's no point in arranging day-time study periods for natural Night Owls!
Manageable tasks will be set and measured, with plenty of room for flexibility and adaptability. Study plans will be discussed, tested and re-drawn if the necessity arises or circumstances change. However, the goal remains the same throughout - to ensure the learning experience is as comfortable and productive as possible, with the ultimate prize always in sight.

I sought out help from Martyn when my lecturers noticed I was struggling with my organisation and predisposition to getting overwhelmed rather easily. At first I was unsure, as I have largely dealt with my disabilities on my own and in the past received rather dissatisfactory help that had not met my specific needs properly. However, my fears were unfounded as Martyn proved to be an absolutely wonderful advisor. Not only was he able to help with my organisational struggles through breaking down my large tasks into small and achievable goals that could be achieved between our sessions. He also was brilliant in helping me avoid or come back from getting overwhelmed. I thoroughly enjoyed the sessions I had with Martyn, not only because they were extr
