ABOUT ME

I am a friendly and approachable History and Politics tutor with both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in History.

Alongside my academic background, I have extensive professional experience in training, mentoring, business advice and public life. I am accustomed to explaining complex ideas clearly, building people’s confidence and adapting my approach to different abilities and learning styles.

I offer individual support to GCSE and A-level students, as well as adults studying History or Politics for personal interest. My aim is not simply to help students remember information, but to develop the analytical, writing and reasoning skills needed to understand their subject and achieve stronger results.

HOW I CAN HELP

I can provide support with:

• GCSE and A-level History
• A-level Government and Politics
• Essay planning and structure
• Source analysis and evaluation
• Building persuasive, evidence-based arguments
• Revision planning and examination preparation
• Improving written answers using exam-board mark schemes
• Personal statements and university applications
• History and Politics tuition for adult learners

MY APPROACH

Lessons are relaxed, encouraging and tailored to the individual student. I begin by identifying the student’s current level, the topics they are studying and the areas in which they need the most help.

We then agree clear objectives and work through material at an appropriate pace. Lessons can include discussion, explanation, examination questions, source analysis and detailed feedback on written work.

I particularly enjoy helping students who understand their subject but struggle to translate their knowledge into well-organised, high-scoring answers.

My political experience gives me a practical understanding of how British politics, elections and local government operate. Politics is always taught impartially, with students encouraged to examine competing interpretations and reach their own conclusions.
