My lessons are friendly, structured and tailored completely around you. In our first session, we’ll start by building rapport, getting to know each other, and talking about what you find difficult, what has (and hasn’t) worked for you in class, and what grades or goals you’re aiming for. My lessons are friendly, structured and tailored completely around you. In our first session, we’ll start by building rapport, getting to know each other, and talking about what you find difficult, what has (and hasn’t) worked for you in class, and what grades or goals you’re aiming for. From there, we’ll agree on a clear plan so you know exactly what we’re working towards each week.
A typical lesson starts with a quick recap to check what you remember, then we focus on one key topic. I explain the core ideas in simple steps, using lots of visual learning: clear, colourful diagrams, labelled drawings, and flowcharts so you can actually see the processes rather than just memorising words. As you get more confident, we build in slightly trickier concepts and link them back to the basics so everything feels connected, not random. I also love weaving in your personal interests wherever possible – whether that’s turning topics into games and crosswords, finding engaging books you can read, or using art and drawing to bring Biology to life.
We’ll always spend time on exam-style questions. First, you’ll have a go yourself; then we’ll go through the answers together, compare them with the mark scheme, and highlight the exact wording and key terms examiners look for in higher-level answers. This helps you understand not only the content, but also how to write like a top-grade student. Between lessons, I can recommend short videos or extra resources if you want more practice or feel unsure about a topic. My aim is for our sessions to feel relaxed, encouraging and even fun, while steadily building your confidence, understanding and exam technique.
