Mariana Bento

I am a Higher Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory with a PhD in Medical Physics, and I have extensive experience tutoring mathematics from primary school through to university level.

My lessons are tailored to each student's needs, whether they require support with core mathematical skills, preparation for GCSEs or A-levels, help with school coursework, or any additional challenges. I focus on building a strong understanding of underlying concepts rather than relying solely on memorisation, helping students develop confidence and independent problem-solving skills.

Lessons are structured, engaging, and paced according to the student's goals and learning style. I use worked examples, guided practice, and exam-style questions where appropriate, ensuring that students not only understand the material but can also apply it effectively in assessments.

As a professional scientist, I use mathematics daily in my work and enjoy showing students how mathematical thinking applies to real-world problems. My aim is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, overcoming challenges, and achieving their full potential.
