My lessons are structured around three things: understanding, confidence, and progress.
Each session begins with a brief review of the previous topic not as a test, but as a warm-up to consolidate what the student already knows. I then introduce new material by breaking it down into small, manageable steps, using clear explanations and worked examples before asking the student to try problems themselves. I believe students learn best by doing, so practice is always a central part of every lesson.
I tailor every session to the individual student. Before we begin working together, I take time to understand where they are struggling, what their goals are, and how they like to learn. Some students need patient, step-by-step guidance through the basics; others are aiming for top grades and need to sharpen their exam technique. I adapt accordingly.
I use a mix of methods such as diagrams, real-world examples, past paper questions, and targeted problem sets to make abstract concepts tangible and relevant. I encourage students to ask questions freely and treat mistakes as a valuable part of the learning process, not something to be embarrassed about.
With a PhD in Electrochemistry from the National University of Singapore and experience teaching university students and adult professionals, I bring both deep subject knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for helping others succeed.
