Dear German learners,

my name is Maike and I am a native German speaker from Hanover (where the most accent-free German is spoken). I majored in German during high school (final grade 13/15) and have taught extra classes in German ever since. Having lived abroad myself for ten years, I have mainly taught German to foreigners and bring a lot of understanding of cultural differences. I can teach in English or Spanish and I also speak French. Furthermore, I completed training as a systemic coach in 2023, so I am able to help you in a constructive and professional manner.
I want you to get the most out of our classes, so I have a taylor-made approach: in the first lesson, we assess your goals and needs together, so I will know if your focus is on speaking, grammar etc. My lessons are very interactive, so that it doesn`t get boring. At the same time I am able to explain the difficult German grammar in depth. You will get homework everytime, so that you can work on your language skills also in between our classes. I will check your homework of course.

It was a fulfilling and delightful experience to work with Maike. Her lessons were always highly personalised, allowing me to focus with concerted effort on basic speaking and listening. I’m severely dyslexic, and a tutor who can truly adapt their teaching style to concentrate less on literacy development and more on oracy is rare! She paid close attention to my weakness and provided me with voice notes in which she clearly pronounced every word from the new vocabulary list after each lesson, so I could learn their meanings and pronunciations without worrying about reading/spelling. Homework tasks were always valuable for reinforcing the lessons, which were unfailingly stretching and rewarding.
