My lessons are focused on helping students build real understanding, improve exam technique, and become more confident when answering GCSE Maths and Science questions.
In the first lesson, I aim to get a clear idea of the student’s current level by asking about the topics they find difficult, looking at recent schoolwork or past paper attempts, and identifying any gaps in their understanding. From there, I create a plan that targets their weaker areas while also strengthening the topics they are already comfortable with.
A typical lesson would usually start with a short recap of the previous topic or a quick warm-up question. I then explain the main concept step by step, breaking it down into simpler parts and checking that the student understands each stage before moving on. After that, we work through example questions together so the student can see exactly how to apply the method.
Once the student is more comfortable, I encourage them to try similar questions independently, while I guide them through any mistakes or misunderstandings. I think this is important because students often learn best when they are given the chance to practise, make mistakes, and then understand why those mistakes happened.
For GCSE Maths, I can help with topics such as algebra, equations, graphs, geometry, trigonometry, probability, statistics, and problem-solving questions. For GCSE Science, I can support students with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics topics, especially by helping them understand key ideas, learn definitions, and apply knowledge to exam-style questions.
I also place a strong focus on exam technique. This includes understanding what the question is asking, showing working clearly, using the right keywords, and learning how mark schemes award marks. Many students know the content but lose marks because they do not structure their answers properly, so I help students practise answering in a way that is clear, accurate, and exam-focused.
My teaching style is patient, supportive, and clear. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, even if they feel unsure or embarrassed about a topic. My aim is to create a calm and focused environment where students can build confidence, improve steadily, and feel more prepared for school assessments and final exams.
