Lauren Kinch

I have been a University lecturer for four years now, having covered a range of psychology modules, including lifespan development, social psychology, biological psychology, individual differences, cognitive psychology amongst so much more. I particularly enjoyed developmental and social psychology and I currently teach these modules at level 4 and level 7. I have also supported several dissertation students through their final year projects, whom passed with their first attempt. I am currently an ethics integrity officer so have a great understanding of the process of gaining ethical approval for projects and the analysis methods used across psychology as a whole.
Outside of work, I am completing my PhD in psychology and have a strong interest in qualitative data methods.
In my teaching, I do not believe in a traditional lecture approach. I believe students learn best by doing, moving, discussing and through exploring things themselves. I try to tailor my lessons in a way that equips my students to be able to develop the skills and competence to be efficient learners and to retain what they are learning.
I want to make sure that each of my students feels empowered and motivated to continue their learning even when its not a necessity. Learning should be fun and a lifelong skill.
I have tutored many students in the past 10 years and whether that is teaching phonics to a 7 year old, or psychoanalysis to a university student, the key to success is making the student feel appreciated, supported and heard.
