I am relatively new to formal teaching, but I genuinely enjoy helping people learn and I’m good at explaining the same idea in different ways until it makes sense. I believe lessons should be structured, but also flexible enough to suit the student's age, level, personality and interests.

My lessons can include a combination of:

• Reading – texts, articles, stories, books and other real-life materials, followed by discussion and questions.

• Grammar & vocabulary – learning tenses, word order, verbs, adjectives and useful vocabulary through speaking and writing exercises rather than simply memorising rules.

• Watching & listening – using videos (e.g., YouTube), clips or other audio materials, followed by verbal or written summaries and discussion.

• Research – for older students, exploring real-world topics and current issues independently, then discussing what they have found.

• Presentations – preparing a short written or digital presentation about a topic the student finds interesting, including key details, examples or trends and presenting it verbally.

• Role-play – particularly useful for younger students. For example, acting out situations such as ordering in a restaurant, shopping or meeting someone new to practise natural conversation.

• Games & creative activities – especially for younger learners, using pictures, sounds, stories and games to make vocabulary easier and more enjoyable to remember.

I like using real-life examples because language is much more than grammar and vocabulary, it is also a way to understand people, culture and everyday life. I want students to see how the language is actually used rather than only learning it from a textbook.

Most importantly, I adapt the programme as we go. If a student has a particular interest or a learning method that works especially well for them, I’m happy to incorporate it. My aim is to make lessons useful.
