I have the experience of teaching biology, chemistry and physics GCSEs in the past 2 years. Depending on the requirements of the student, I would start off by teaching them the content they wanted to learn, then would end off the lesson by doing past paper questions with them to make sure they fully grasped the knowledge taught during the lesson. Sometimes, if the student require, I would also spend the lesson doing past paper questions with them and help them by telling them the best approach to answering the exam questions.
