About me

I love to work at your pace to help support you as we tackle new or challenging concepts. I have taught one-to-one with students from 11 to 18, and enjoy the personality each student brings to my lessons. I have also enjoyed teaching groups of students, and understand that different pupils work at different paces and in unique ways, whether tackling ADHD, dyslexia, or just not feeling confident....
I love to work at your pace to help support you as we tackle new or challenging concepts. I have taught one-to-one with students from 11 to 18, and enjoy the personality each student brings to my lessons. I have also enjoyed teaching groups of students, and understand that different pupils work at different paces and in unique ways, whether tackling ADHD, dyslexia, or just not feeling confident. I will adjust my structure to support your needs, but I like to start with a 'Me, You, Revise, Write' lesson plan.

My lessons will be tailored to your needs - meaning I will find the topic or challenge for each lesson, and work with you to explain it clearly and concisely. This is the part of the lesson where I am breaking down content into bitesize pieces. I will then ask you to summarise what I have gone through - helping you develop quick and active note taking, as well as improving your understanding of the concept. You can then teach me the topic, and we can correct any gaps in your understanding together.

We then revise what we've learnt by talking through an exam question, looking at what a paper is asking you, and why they might want to target your understanding in this area. As a student, I like to imagine myself as the examiner - and believe it a vital skill to teach to ensure you hit all the points the question is asking. After which, it's all you. You are fully equipped to answer that topic on an exam, and I will read through what you've written alongside a mark scheme.

Once you have the tools to manage your own learning, it's just about practising them, applying your skills to new topics. After a few lessons, I like to go back to an old topic, and show you how far you've come, keeping the content ticking over. But once we've got the hang of it, an exam shouldn't feel too daunting - it's just a series of revision lessons without the mark scheme!
If you have any questions, please reach out. I am happy to work on revision methods, adjacent subjects or homework, and share my own experience of where all this might take you.

Wishing you the best of luck!
